A game between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich is always a popular spectacle in Germany, but this year’s one could be of extra importance in terms of the Bundesliga title race. They are the top two teams in the standings and it is the champions Bayern that have a three-point lead after 10 matchdays.
That is despite their somewhat underwhelming start that saw Carlo Ancelotti sacked as manager after starting just his second campaign since replacing Pep Guardiola, who departed to join Manchester City. Jupp Heynckes is back in charge after initially retiring in 2013, and results have certainly improved. His first match was a 5-0 win over Freiburg, and since then they have won each of the five matches across three competitions – a draw with RB Leipzig ended with a winning penalty shootout in the DFB-Pokal.
This week’s 2-1 win over Celtic in the Champions League also means that the Bavarians will advance to the last-16 in what was a potentially tricky group with Paris Saint-Germain in; and with two matches to spare – they will fight the Parisians for top spot in their remaining fixtures.
The meeting on Saturday sees the two best attacks clash – Bayern have scored 24 times, with Dortmund on 27 – while the visitors to the Westfalenstadion have been remarkable solid at the back, and have conceded just seven times.
Dortmund, despite a strong start, have been patchy under new manager Peter Bosz. The pressure has grown on him despite this being his first season in the job since arriving from Ajax. They are very likely to be eliminated from the Champions League early, possibly dropping into the Europa League by finishing third after drawing with APOEL twice.
The odds at Tipbet, therefore, show the fact that Bayern have turned their early season form around, while Borussia have struggled. Munich are 2.05 to get a win that would put them six points clear of their rivals. Dortmund will likely go attacking, so a home win is rated at 3.35, while it us 1.40 – very likely – that both teams score. Further odds markets from Tipbet can be viewed here.
