After a four-week mid-season summer break, the 2018 Formula 1 season continues this weekend at the famous Spa-Francorchamps track in Belgium. After 12 rounds Lewis Hamilton leads the way having won consecutive races in Germany and Hungary; the Mercedes driver is on 213 points, and 24 ahead of Sebastian Vettel, who has emerged as his only rival for the title.

Though the German finished second in Hungary, he retired in his home Grand Prix and any more reliability issues in the coming races could see Hamilton’s lead become unassailable – the Brit has won three of the past four World Drivers’ Championships.

Vettel, then, will know that it is crucially important that he challenges for the win this Sunday, with the race starting at 15:10 CEST. With 25 points for victory, closing the gap is still in his hands, though the Mercedes’ of Hamilton and his teammate Valtteri Bottas have retired just twice all year.

Tipbet have top odds covering all 20 racers in the head to head format. Hamilton is targeting a fourth win at Spa, which would see him become the joint-most successful British driver at the track, and the 33-year-old is 1.30 to finish ahead of Bottas (3.00) on Sunday – something he has done on eight occasions in 2018.

Vettel, meanwhile, is 1.35 to out-perform Kimi Raikkonen on Sunday, with the Finn at 2.90 – he has been impressively consistent and has recorded five straight podium finishes. The first indication of which way this race is heading will come in Friday practice, while Saturday’s three qualification sessions promise to be extremely competitive.

Fernando Alonso, with two world titles, is widely seen as one of the most technically gifted drivers in Formula 1 history, but he is making his final appearance at Spa this weekend after announcing that he is retiring at the season’s end. The Spaniard has won 32 Grand Prix but curiously never at this track; it would take an almighty upset for him to claim his first chequered flag of the season, but he is 1.40 to finish ahead of Stoffel Vandoorne.
