Tipbet’s partner club Gzira United came out on top in a classic match against Mosta on Sunday afternoon to climb up to third in the Maltese Premier League.

United started excellently and rushed into a two-goal lead after 11 minutes following a brace from Andrew Cohen.

Mosta responded through Slovenian attacker Damir Bartulovic five minutes later from the penalty spot, though Emmanuel Okoye immediately restored Gzira’s two-goal advantage.

Leozinho reduced the deficit in the first-half to give the hosts hope, but Haruna Garba and a second for Okoye put United in complete control before Bartulovic recorded his second of the game in what was little more than a consolation.

The result means that the Maroons have a real chance of reaching the preliminary Europa League qualifiers. Mosta, meanwhile, are in ninth and now five matches without a win.
