With six games remaining of the Serie A season, Napoli are still in the title race with Juventus, and a home match against Udinese gives them the chance to keep the pressure on before they face the leaders on Sunday. A six-point deficit is by no means insurmountable, but the Neapolitans will likely need close to the maximum 18 points that are still available.

Recent form suggests that this is unlikely, as Napoli have won two of their last five, drawing the others and struggling in front of goal – a problem that reared its head around March. They have been beaten just twice, however, and have shown an impressive resilience.

Last weekend’s goalless draw with Milan, coupled with Juventus’s 3-0 win over Sampdoria, may well have been the fixture that gave the Turin outfit too big an advantage, particularly as they are now out of the Champions League and can focus all their energy on claiming a domestic double.

Failure to convincingly beat Udinese would represent a humiliation for the Scudetto hopefuls. The northern Italians have lost their last nine Serie A matches and have claimed a single league win in 2018 to drag them into a relegation battle despite being a top-flight mainstay since the 1995/96 season.

In spite their horrific set of results, the Black and Whites are in 13th but just six points from the relegation zone. It is the poor form of the teams below them, above all else, that has kept them out of the bottom three and their record of 19 losses is the most of the league’s top 17 teams.

There are real problems at both ends of the pitch, but it is the inability to turn defeats into draws – they have just three – that has been behind their woeful run of form. However, stopping Napoli’s title bid would halt the rot and could go some way to ensuring that the Udine team have a solid end to the season.

In what is no surprise, Tipbet are expecting a straightforward win for the home team in Naples. They are 1.18 to outright win and value is to be found in how many goals they will score. It is 1.75 that Maurizio Sarri’s squad will re-find their attacking form and score at least three times. To avoid slipping further down the table Udinese are 4.50 with Double Chance to avoid defeat.
