Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool for a reported €150m following extensive negotiations.
The 25-year-old came close to moving to the La Liga leaders last summer, but a move failed to materialise as the Reds struggled to sign an acceptable replacement.
His form has been impressive for the English club, however, and his 12 goals in 20 appearances convinced Barca to return to secure his signature on a five-and-a-half-year deal.
With Ousmane Dembele returning from long-term injury, Coutinho will battle with the Frenchman for the position of Neymar’s full-time replacement after the forward moved to Paris Saint-Germain for a world-record fee last year.
Barcelona are nine points clear in La Liga, and among the favourites to win the Champions League.
