Though they were beaten 2-1 by Shakhtar Donetsk in the first game, the fact that they have an away goal will give Roma belief that they can reach the last-eight of the Champions League. A 1-0 win in Ukraine on Tuesday night would be enough to see them through but that is, of course, a risky strategy as an away goal for Donetsk would put them in control of the fixture.

Whichever side advances will be the weakest remaining in Europe’s elite club competition, unless Sevilla can cause an upset against Manchester United. However, both showed that they are capable of top performances in the group stage – Roma topped a group that included Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, whilst Shakhtar Donetsk finished second in theirs to eliminate Napoli.

Furthermore, both teams go into this decider in strong form. Donetsk have won their last five games in all competitions – including a 5-0 followed by back-to-back 3-0 victories – and they sit top of the Ukrainian Premier League after 23 matches, and they are looking like claiming top-spot in the Championship Round.

Roma, meanwhile, are third place in Serie A and that is the highest that they can realistically expect to finish given the form of both Napoli and champions Juventus. Getting past Shakhtar and going deep into the Champions League would represent an excellent achievement, and their last two results – wins over Napoli and Torino – suggest that they are ready to overcome the 2-1 deficit.

Tipbet’s Champions League odds cover Tuesday’s fixture and there are a massive 107 markets to choose from. As well as the popular outrights including which team will win – Roma are big favourites at 1.65 to win in normal time – there are many other eventualities to bet on. This includes the correct score market and a 2-1 home win, which would bring with it extra-time, is available at 8.25.

In the last-16 tie taking place on Wednesday, Bayern Munich travel to Besiktas and the Germans lead 5-0 on aggregate. That game is part of Tipbet’s Top Midweek Match Bonus which gives extra funds when placing a bet of at least €50.
