As they have won three of thee last five DFB-Pokal trophies, it is absolutely no surprise to see Bayern Munich in this weekend’s final, and they go into it as major favourites when they face Eintracht Frankfurt at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. The Bavarians claimed their sixth successive Bundesliga crown this season and they had no real challengers.

Saturday night is the final match of Jupp Heynckes’ reign in charge before he retires for a second time and is replaced by Niko Kovac, who will be in the opposite dugout on Saturday night in what will be his final match before joining the champions.

Kovac has been credited with Frankfurt’s improvement in league finishes and they went from 11th in 2016/17 to eighth in the season just gone. Adding silverware to his CV would be the ideal way to bow out, particularly as Die Adler got to last year’s final only to be beaten by Borussia Dortmund.

Their main issue in the Bundesliga was conceding as many goals (45) as they scored, as well as losing 13 times, though Eintracht were just six points off Dortmund and a top four finish.

Bayern could not advance to the Champions League final, which is being contested by Real Madrid and Liverpool next week, after they were eliminated by the Spanish holders in the semi-finals. This will make Heynckes extra motivated to claim a second trophy since replacing Carlo Ancelotti.

Robert Lewandowski has been the outstanding striker in the Bundesliga for the past few seasons and the Pole has 40 goals to his name in all competitions, including five in the Cup. He will be a major threat on Saturday and is 2.85 with Tipbet to open the scoring, or 1.45 to find the net at any time.

When it comes to winning the trophy Bayern should have too much quality if they play to anywhere near their full potential – they are 1.25 to win the DFB-Pokal in normal time, and 1.09 to do so by any means, with extra-time unlikely but possible at 4.75. Eintracht Frankfurt are 6.25 to win the competition for the first time since 1988. All odds markets are here; why not also enjoy one of the great Tipbet promotions?
