After their complete dominance of last season’s Premier League, which saw them become the first side to break the 100-point barrier, Manchester City are now aiming to take the next step in their history and create a period of dominance, both domestically and in Europe. The upcoming season, then, is of upmost importance to Pep Guardiola and his squad as they target a first Champions League trophy whilst still staying as England’s leading team.

The Spaniard has been relatively quiet in the transfer market to this point, only adding Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City, but his club are extremely effective and still the Premier League’s most complete squad, with Liverpool likely to be their biggest challengers; the Reds won yesterday as both teams played their second International Champions Cup match.

Their next match is in the early hours of Sunday as they take on Bayern Munich at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida. Since Pep Guardiola left the Bavarians to join City they have not seemed quite the same force, though they did win a sixth straight title last season. The upcoming season sees them plan for the medium to long-term with the appointment of Niko Kovač, a relatively inexperienced coach. Meanwhile, the purchase of Canadian teenager Alphonso Davies further displays the attempt to reduce the average age of a squad that is in dire need of rejuvenation.

Munich began the ICC with a comprehensive 3-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain, but this was followed by a 2-0 defeat to Juventus, showing that there is still some substantial work to be done between now and the beginning of the season on 12th August.

As is the case throughout the pre-season tournament, Tipbet have all matches covered with extensive odds. Given that Bayern Munich have the majority of their World Cup players back and available for selection, they are strong favourites to claim the win in normal time – they can be backed at 1.95.

City, meanwhile, have several stars missing and Guardiola is likely to take the opportunity to give fringe players some game time. His side are at 3.20 and both teams scoring at any point is 1.45.
