Everton 1-5 Atalanta: Everton suffer a humiliating defeat in the Europa League

Everton remain without a Europa League win this season after another humiliating defeat to Italian side Atalanta.

The Toffees’ dire start to the season, which saw Ronald Koeman lose his job, has not been confined to the Premier League, and they remain bottom of Group E with a single point.

Caretaker manager David Unsworth named a strong line-up that included Wayne Rooney, but Bryan Cristante opened the scoring on 12 minutes and added another in the 63^rd minute, before Sandro Ramirez scored his first Everton goal.

However, the hosts then capitulated and goals from Robin Gosens and Andreas Cornelius (twice) late on means that the Blues have conceded 15 times in their five Europa League matches this season.

Atalanta and Lyon each have 11 points and will both advance to the knockout stage.
