It's the Europa League semi finals. And again Liverpool finds itself forced to turn things around. After a very late goal, resulting in an unfortunate loss in Spain, Liverpool welcomes Villarreal to make a winning effort for the finals.

Liverpool in need of an other home win

Arguably the one thing, that kept Liverpool alive and well in this Europa League competition, is their strength at home. The Reds have yet to lose at the Anfield Road in the EL competition. In the knockout stage they won all of their home games. Even when in the face of adversity like against Dortmund in the quarter finals. Another thing that Liverpool has going for it, is that it is obvious by now that Juergen Klopp has apparently put all of his chips on winning the Europa League trophy. And with it the participation in next year's Champions League. A goal, which by now is impossible to be achieved in the Premier League. Even a Europa League qualification is in jeopardy, as far as the domestic competition is concerned. So Klopp is looking for what not only would be a major statement (first international trophy since 2005). He also takes the most sensible road, given that the rewards would be considerable. He went easy on his squad in the Premier League. Even though it cost them the game there. But he has plenty reason to, for the personnel issues are unfortunate enough as they are. Captain Jordan Henderson and regulars like Emre Can, Divock Origi and Mamadou Sakho will not be available.

Villarreal is as close as ever to it's first European final

Three times CF Villarreal had the chance to make it to a European final. And three times they chocked. But now it is in their grasp. They sense it and they want it. Things are looking good for the Spaniards. They just recently secured a Champions League qualifying rank, being fourth in Spain behind the big three. So they will be in the Champions League in any event. Now it comes down to finally make club history and reach that final. But as mentioned before, the Anfield Road is not an easy gig. So they would be good advised to push for that early away goal. And they may pull it off. Villarreal is running strong in the EL competition. They only lost their very first game in the group stage. Ever since that, they haven't lost a single game out of the last twelve EL games (nine wins, three draws). It is yet to be seen if Eric Bailly and Leo Baptistao will be able to play. But other than that Villarreal is not plagued by any personnel issues of significant gravity.

This is what the odds at Tipbet look like:

The Tipbet odds favor Liverpool. They look like this: 1.70 – 3.5 – 4.85. This is a bit of a tough game to bet on. Not only in this season, but in general, Liverpool has shown amazing morale in winning games from behind. So a 1:0 advantage is not much to bank on. Villarreal probably needs to score. Also Liverpool seems hellbent to concentrate it's efforts on the EL. However, they are injury plagued and Villarreal also can afford it now, to fully concentrate on the EL. Bet on the draw and on Villarreal to advance. It seems to be a Spanish year.
