AS Monaco’s defeat to Lyon last week means that Paris Saint-Germain’s lead over the champions in Ligue 1 is now six points after nine matchdays, and it is hard to envisage them relinquishing that position between now and the end of the season.

That is down to the quality that the Parisians possess – with Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe they have arguably the most exciting frontline in Europe – as well as the fact that Monaco have shown that, after selling a number of their stars in the summer, they no longer have the consistency to compete on domestic and continental fronts.

Paris have won eight of their first nine Ligue 1 games and in the process have scored 29 times, conceding just six, so it appears that the French top-tier is going back to the one-team dominance of recent years. PSG’s quality has been emphasised by their displays in the Champions League. They are top of Group B and are on the verge of qualification to the last-16 stage after winning all three games, including a 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich that cost Carlo Ancelotti his job.

Marseille should prove stubborn opponents on Sunday night, however. The club finished fifth last season under Rudi Garcia but are fourth currently and looking to climb even higher to secure a return to Champions League football. OM have also impressed in the Europa League, winning two of their games in Group I to give themselves a real chance of reaching the knockout stages.

Despite winning three of their last four matches in Ligue 1, Marseille will have to be at their very best to stand a chance of beating their visitors. Tipbet have over 60 markets to choose from in this match, including in the match winner markets where PSG are 1.40 to get their fifth consecutive win in all competitions. With such a big lead already, by the time Paris visit Monaco on 26th November the gap could already be unassailable. Marseille are available at 6.75 to get three points, though their poor defensive record will need to improve.
