Today marks the real countdown for the 2018 World Cup, the 21st edition of the competition which is one month away and begins on 14th June. The tournament takes place every four years and is being hosted by Russia for the first time with an outright favourite hard to predict.

Germany are the reigning champions but are without key components on their win four years ago with Bastian Schweinsteiger and Philipp Lahm since retired from international duty. Therefore, Spain and France are among Europe’s best hopes, with Belgium outsiders given their relatively straightforward group and squad packed with stars.

From South America, Brazil qualified easily and if they can get Neymar fit then no side will want to face them; the same can be said of Argentina and Lionel Messi, with the final taking place on 15th July in Moscow.

Hosts Russia have a weak squad and getting out of Group A – they face Uruguay, Saudi Arabia and Egypt – would be regarded a success.

Each of the 32 squads will be named in the coming weeks, with the picture then becoming clearer as to which teams will reach the latter stages. View all the odds markets at Tipbet, and view our brilliant promotions.
